  • The situation

Did you know that 24,3% of children in Mauritius are malnourished? A sad reality is that 1 child out of 4 hasn't got access to adequate food intakes in our country...

Schools and NGOs try during school terms to compensate for these nutritional deficiencies by providing a balanced meal, which is for the majority of them, the only one they will have during their day. However, as all schools and the majority of NGOs are closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, many underprivileged children will be left without access to nutritious meals.

  • Our mission

FoodWise Mauritius is an organization fighting against food waste and food insecurity. We help companies redistribute their surplus food to NGOs helping people in need. Since our creation in November 2018, we have saved more than 120 tons of food products, which equates to around 520,000 meals.

With the COVID-19 crisis, the demand for food from poor families has dramatically increased and is now higher than the supply of surplus food. We thus need to complement the food donations with the purchase of food packs. Your financial support is crucial to be able to carry on our mission of helping children suffering from malnutrition.

  • Your mission

Today, we are giving you the opportunity to help feed insecure children in Mauritius.
Thanks to your financial donations, FoodWise will distribute food parcels to children in need. If the goal of raising Rs 250 000 is reached, together we would have ensured that 500 children will receive food parcels designed to last 1 week per child.
